Twinblades are an interesting class of weapon in Elden Ring. They don’t have the highest damage output, or the longest range. But what they lack in those departments, they make up for with incredible speed and style. With the best twinblades, you can perform multiple strikes in quick succession as you alternate attacks from either end. With options for both Dexterity and Strength builds, there is a lot to consider when choosing a twinblade to fit your play style.

Gargoyle’s Black Blades

The Gargoyle’s Black Blades offer decent Strength scaling with additional Holy damage to make a great weapon for a Strength/Faith hybrid build that wants the fast attack pattern of a twinblade.

Stats

While its base Physical attack is on the low end for a twinblade, at only 81, it is supplemented by a 97 base Holy attack stat. It requires 18 Strength, 15 Dexterity, and 22 Faith to wield. As such, it really belongs on a build that already has investments in Strength and Faith.

Strength has the best damage scaling, with a base C grade that reaches a B by upgrade +5. Meanwhile, Dexterity and Faith have consistent E and D grades, respectively.

Where to Find It

This weapon is dropped by the Black Blade Kindred boss that blocks the path the Mountaintops of the Giants in the Forbidden Lands. You can’t really miss this boss, as it is necessary to pass through this route if you’re following the game’s main questline.

The downside of the of Gargoyle’s Black Blades is that you can’t acquire it until late into the game, meaning there are better options available earlier. That being said, this is still a solid weapon and it has its uses on the right build.

How to Use the Gargoyle’s Black Blades

Where the Gargoyle’s Black Blades excel is dealing solid Holy damage to support the great Strength scaling this weapon has. As such, we are going to want to incorporate this weapon into a build that takes advantage of this fact.

It’s important to remember that while this is a Strength-oriented weapon, a typical tanky Strength build is not ideal with the fast, close-range attacks of a twinblade. The Weapon Skill on the Gargoyle’s Black Blades is Spinning Slash. This skill has the user slash enemies in a circle around them before finishing with a heavy, downward strike.

The standard heavy attack on the Gargoyle’s Black Blades does more damage than this attack and does not cost FP, so it is the preferable attack. Unfortunately, this weapon cannot be infused with ashes of war, so we are stuck with this skill.

To make up for a mediocre weapon skill, we can augment our damage potential with talismans. The Twinblade Talisman is, unsurprisingly, great for twinblades because it enhances the final hit of an attack chain by 20%.

Since twinblades are known for their fast, successive attacks, this talisman is a no-brainer to use on any twinblade build. Other good talismans are the Starscourge Heirloom to raise your Strength by 5, boosting your Physical damage scaling, and the Sacred Scorpion Charm to raise the Holy damage done by this twinblade.

Twinned Knight Swords

This versatile twinblade can be adapted to a variety of builds thanks to its ability to be infused with ashes of war. It offers a balanced stat distribution with the rapid attacking capabilities of a twinblade.

Stats

The Twinned Knight Swords have one of the higher base Physical attacks of twinblades, at 122. They requires 16 Strength and 18 Dexterity to use. Overall, a reasonable ratio of requirements to power. Interestingly, they scale best with Strength in the Standard affinity, with a base grade of D that reaches C by max upgrade. They have a base E grade in Dexterity that reaches a D by max upgrade.

Where to Find It

You can find this twinblade at the very northernmost tip of the Altus Plateau. It is on a burning corpse located in the East Windmill Pasture. Avoid or defeat the group of dancing Celebrant enemies and loot the pile of burning corpses in the center of them to claim the Twinned Knight Swords. Be careful, though, as some of those burning corpses will come to life and attack!

How to Use the Twinned Knight Swords

While the Twinned Knight Swords scale best with Strength by default, they actually work best in a Strength/Dexterity hybrid (or “Quality”) build because it changes both damage scaling grades to B. For this to work, we will want to set them to the Quality affinity by infusing them with an ash of war. We recommend the Storm Assault ash of war.

In addition to adding the Quality affinity to your weapon, this ash of war also allows you to perform the Storm Assault skill. This skill has the user create a small tornado that propels them into the air, allowing them to perform a leaping slash that creates another small tornado at the point of impact. Use this skill to deal with a group of enemies that may be out of reach of normal twinblade attacks.

Once again, the Twinblade Talisman is a fantastic option on this build. Another great option is Radagon’s Soreseal because it increases Vigor, Endurance, Strength, and Dexterity by 5 points at the cost of a 15% increase in damage taken.

This tradeoff is well worth it, because the Quality version of the Twinned Knight Swords benefits from both Strength and Dexterity scaling. Since you can get a boost to both of those attributes in one talisman, you should definitely take advantage of it.

Godskin Peeler

A fantastic Dexterity-based twinblade with an awesome Weapon Skill, the Godskin Peeler really shows off the deadly potential these weapons have. With a name this gnarly, you know it’s going to be a force to be reckoned with.

Stats

The Godskin Peeler is also on the higher end of base Physical attack stats for twinblades, with 121. It needs 17 Strength and 22 Dexterity to wield. As such, it scales best with Dexterity, with a base C grade that reaches a B by max upgrade.

Additionally, it has a base E grade in Strength that reaches a D by max upgrade. Dexterity is the clear focus for this weapon — however, depending on your build, Arcane may be worth considering as well. We’ll see why below.

Where to Find It

The Godskin Peeler is dropped by the Godskin Apostle boss located in Windmill Village in the Altus Plateau. This village is located in the northeastern part of the region and features many Celebrant enemies.

Make your way through the village and reach the top, where you will face the Godskin Apostle. Defeat this boss and the Godskin Peeler will be yours.

How to Use the Godskin Peeler

The Godskin Peeler’s default Weapon Skill is Black Flame Tornado. This skill is quite good, as it allows the user to create a tornado of black flames around them, damaging enemies in a wide area of effect. However, this twinblade can be infused with other ashes of war, so other options are available.

If you want to use it on an Arcane build, you can get an insane amount of damage across both Physical and Bleed by infusing it with the Sepukku ash of war and setting it to the Occult affinity. The Occult affinity changes damage scaling to an E in Strength, a D in Dexterity, and a B in Arcane.

Sepukku allows the user to increase their attack power and add a Blood Loss build up to their attacks. The combination of these two gives the Godskin Peeler an incredibly high rate of Blood Loss build up on top of a great Physical attack.

To increase your attack power even further, use the Lord of Blood’s Exultation talisman. This talisman increases attack power by 20% whenever an enemy takes Blood Loss damage in your vicinity. You can reach some crazy power levels with this setup!

Gargoyle’s Twinblade

The highest base Physical attack of any twinblade and great damage scaling makes the Gargoyle’s Twinblade a standout weapon. Couple that with the ability to infuse with ashes of war, and this twinblade ranks as one of the top in its class.

Stats

With 123 base Physical attack, the Gargoyle’s Twinblade beats all twinblades in terms of base Physical attack. This makes it the perfect candidate for infusing with ashes of war. It requires 18 Strength and 15 Dexterity to wield. Strength provides the best damage scaling, with a base C grade that reaches a B by max Standard upgrade. Dexterity offers reduced damage scaling, with an E grade consistent across each upgrade.

Where to Find It

The Gargoyle’s Twinblade is dropped by the Valiant Gargoyle (Twinblade) boss. This boss is somewhat tricky to find because it guards the entrance to the optional location Deeproot Depths. You’ll find it hidden at the back of Nokron, Eternal City, near the Aqueduct-Facing Cliffs site of grace.

This bossfight includes a battle against two Valiant Gargoyles, one of which wields the Gargoyle’s Twinblade. Defeat both and you will get this twinblade.

How to Use the Gargoyle’s Twinblade

With the ability to infuse this twinblade with ashes of war, we can make some really stellar builds with it. In fact, with the Sacred affinity, the Gargoyle’s Twinblade has better Faith scaling than the Gargoyle’s Black Blades! If you’d like to go down this route, you can’t go wrong with the Golden Vow ash of war. Besides granting you the Sacred affinity, it also lets you use the Golden Vow skill, which boosts attack power and damage negation for you and your allies.

Another great option for the Gargoyle’s Twinblade is to lean into its pure Strength power and set it to the Heavy affinity. With this affinity, Strength scaling changes to an A and eliminates scaling with Dexterity entirely. A great ash of war to accomplish this is the Lion’s Claw ash of war. The weapon skill Lion’s Claw lets the user perform a powerful somersault that deals major damage.

Regardless of which route you go down, a great talisman to use is the Starscourge Heirloom, since it boosts your Strength by 5. Another good talisman to use is Winged Sword Insignia, as it raises your attack power with successive attacks. The rapid attack pattern of twinblades makes this quite a useful talisman to have on any twinblade build.

Eleonora’s Poleblade

Without a doubt, Eleonora’s Poleblade is the cream of the crop when it comes to twinblades. A triple threat of Physical, Fire, and Bleed damage make this weapon a very popular choice for Dexterity and Arcane builds.

Stats

Eleonora’s Poleblade has an even split of base attack damage across Physical and Fire, with 72 in each. It requires 12 Strength, 21 Dexterity, and 19 Arcane in order to wield. Damage scales best, with Dexterity with a base D grade that reaches a C by upgrade +7. It also has an E and D grade in Strength and Arcane, respectively, that does not change with upgrades.

Where to Find It

You can obtain this weapon by defeating the NPC invader Eleonora, Violet Bloody Finger. She invades your game near the Second Church of Marika in the central area of the Altus Plateau. You can easily reach the church by heading northeast from the entrance to the plateau at the Grand Lift of Dectus. Defeat the invader, and she will drop this twinblade.

How to Use Eleonora’s Poleblade

While the Physical and Fire damage on this twinblade are great, the real showstopper here is the passive Blood Loss build-up it inflicts. It also has an amazing Weapon Skill in Bloodblade Dance. This unique skill has the user perform a leaping, spinning weapon slash followed up by a flurry of quick strikes. It is a fast attack with range to help you close the distance on enemies and build Blood Loss on them quickly.

The best talismans to use with Eleonora’s Poleblade are the Winged Sword Insignia, Lord of Blood’s Exultation, and Marika’s Soreseal. The Winged Sword Insignia is great for giving you a power boost after performing the successive hits of Bloodblade Dance.

The Lord of Blood’s Exultation will boost that power even further once your enemies take Blood Loss damage. And Marika’s Soreseal raises multiple attributes by 5, one of which being Arcane, helping to buff the damage done by Blood Loss.

A popular build with this weapon is to dual-wield it with the Godskin Peeler. If you followed the build advice above for that weapon, you potentially have two fast twinblades capable of inflicting Blood Loss.

Twice the weapon means twice the speed at which Blood Loss builds, and the faster you can take down your enemies. This is one of the best builds in the game because it can quickly shred any boss that doesn’t resist Bleed to pieces!
