Where does Eufy go from here? The flaws have been patched, but it says it's planning to bring on companies in security consulting, certification, and penetration-testing to conduct a comprehensive assessment of its products and eliminate potential risks.

Under the parent company Anker Innovations, eufy says that it has over five million users around the world; pretty impressive.

Eufy products aren't cheap, the brand doesn't offer fire safety devices and none of the alarm products integrate with Google Assistant, Alexa or HomeKit.

Ring simply offers a much more extensive catalog of products than Eufy and, as a result, can supply all of your home security needs under one brand.

Eufy has hardened their security practices

The one un-ignorable issue is that these are security cameras, and like a lot of companies, Eufy has had some security issues in the past—namely, around thumbnail images being sent with notifications (and there were some questions around the live view feature).

In the most common usage scenarios, a fully charged camera can last for one year except eufyCam 2C and eufyCam 2C Pro. For eufyCam 2C and eufyCam 2C Pro, it can last for half-year. Battery life varies and depends on the number of times motion is detected, recording time duration, and environmental temperatures.

A lawsuit filed against eufy security cam maker Anker Tech claims the biz assigns "unique identifiers" to the faces of any person who walks in front of its devices – and then stores that data in the cloud, "essentially logging the locations of unsuspecting individuals" when they stroll past.

My eufycam homebase is absolutey sending data back to China. Potentially not the videos themselves, but it's absolutely using a Chinese DNS server for name resolution - I have the firewall logs to prove it. Specifically, it's using 114.114. 114.114 for name resolution.

Plaintiffs contend in their complaint that the Eufy Products applied a facial recognition program to differentiate images of known and unknown individuals within home security services and purportedly misrepresented data storage and encryption practices for the Eufy Products.

Claiming they relied to their detriment on Defendants' (allegedly false) privacy-related representations when purchasing the eufy products, the eight named Plaintiffs filed a putative class action against corporate Defendants involved in the manufacture and sale of “eufy” products.

We recommend mixing and matching other Eufy security cameras in your system based on your needs. This means using Eufy's cheaper indoor cameras around the house while reserving pricier models for outdoor settings.

Stand in front of the camera from different distances to test motion range. Move the slider bar from 1 to 7 to increase or decrease detection sensitivity. You can test the motion sensor detection distance with motion test mode. The camera will flash red when motion is detected.
