What is the best ability for a half-elf? ›

On the plus side, a half-elf character will have many different skills, and good skills are how rangers can make up for being only half-casters. Darkvision is fairly useful for rangers who want to stalk prey at night, and a gloom stalker ranger build may be especially good for half-elf PCs.

Unlike elves, half-elves can grow facial hair. They tend to have awkward builds, with long arms and big feet, and eyes just a little too big for their faces.

Choice of the Half-elves. After the conclusion of the War of Wrath, Manwë determined that the surviving Half-elves would have their choice of fates: to be counted among Elves, and granted eternal life in the Undying Lands; or to be counted among mortals, and granted the ineffable Gift of Ilúvatar.

The best-known character of this race is Tanis Half-Elven. Tanis is a player character in the spin-off 1988 video game Advanced Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes of the Lance.

Arwen is one of the half-elven who lived during the Third Age; her father was Elrond half-elven, lord of the Elvish sanctuary of Rivendell, while her mother was the Elf Celebrian, daughter of the Elf-queen Galadriel, ruler of Lothlórien. She marries the Man Aragorn, who becomes King of Arnor and Gondor.

Why is Elrond half-elf? ›

Elrond Half-elven was born in the Havens of Sirion in Beleriand, late in the First Age. His father was Eärendil, a great half-elven mariner who carried a star across the sky at the end of the First Age. Elrond's mother was Elwing, also known as Elwing the White, also half-elven.

Originally the three Keepers were Gil-galad, Galadriel, and Círdan. Gil-galad gave his Ring to Elrond and Círdan gave his to Gandalf. At the end of the Third Age, when the Rings finally lost their power and were taken into the West, the Keepers were Elrond, Galadriel and Gandalf.

Half-elves often make excellent intermediaries between their two parent races, though often both sides suspected the half-elf of favoring one or the other.

Alignment. Like elves, half-elves are typically neutral, rather than good or evil, but are more likely to be chaotic in nature than their human or elven parents.
