I have started cooking celery more often since I came to the States. When I uploaded celery recipes, people sometimes commented that de-stringing celery is troublesome, so I uploaded this method to teach you how to de-string it easily.
As long as you pull down the leaves slowly, the strings will come off easily. The key is de-stringing from the top to the bottom. If you do it in a wrong direction, they will rip halfway through. Recipe by Nanami Haruka
When you're separating the celery leaves from the stalks, carefully bend the part right under the leaves from the curved inside to the straight outside.

The strings connect the two parts, so gently pull the leaves down the stalk and the strings will come with them.

Steaming preserves the maximum amount of nutrients compared to other cooking methods, such as boiling or frying, which can lead to nutrient loss. Steaming celery until it's just tender ensures it retains its crunch and the bulk of its vitamins and minerals, making it a nutritious addition to your diet.
For science's sake, these stringy bits are called collenchyma cells, which are essentially water-filled tissue that stiffens to give celery its crunch. It's safe to eat, but we understand if you want to get rid of the tough parts. So you don't have to peel your celery stalks, but you definitely can if you want to.
Place the celery in a pot.Add just enough water to cover the celery.Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat and cook the celery until it is just tender, about 5 minutes. Drain away the water and add butter and cream of milk with salt and pepper to taste.
Celery does not need to be peeled. It naturally has a stringy, tough texture, so peeling does not make that much of a difference. However, you can certainly peel each rib if you want to remove some of the tough outer layer.
You may want to peel or pull away any tough outer strings on the celery before cooking it or eating it raw. Don't confuse celery with celeriac, which is the root variety of celery. Celeriac can be prepared and enjoyed like other root vegetables, such as potatoes and parsnips.
Answer and Explanation: The cells that make up the strings inside the celery are called collenchyma cells. These cells are long and filled with water, it also gives the celery its structure and crunch. These cells are living cells that provide the stalks mechanical support as it grows.
