Biography[]

Early Life[]

Marwa was married to Nandor prior to him becoming a vampire. After he was turned, he abandoned her along with his other wives, and she eventually grew old and died without seeing him again.[1] It is unknown whether she mothered any of his children.

She was well-educated for the time, and had a passion for science and mathematics. Marwa remains proud of her observations of Jupiter and Saturn.[2]

What We Do in the Shadows, Season 4: 2022[]

After Nandor acquires a djinn lamp, he uses his second wish to resurrect all 37 of his dead human wives. After eliminating all but Marwa, he makes arrangements for them to be wed.[2] In the time leading up to the wedding, Nandor uses many of his wishes to make "improvements" to Marwa's physical appearance,[3] as well as wishing for her to change her mind about accompanying him to The Night Market so that he may "spend time with the boys".[4]

As his final wish, just before The Wedding, Nandor wishes for Marwa to like everything that he likes. At the altar, Marwa expresses that she had some reservations about marrying Nandor, but was overtaken by a strange feeling that she would like to get married. Later that night, Nandor confirms his suspicions that he was the one to cause this with his wish, and had accidentally prevented her from objecting to their marriage.

When Nandor, Laszlo and Colin are away at Sean Rinaldi's cabin in the Pine Barrens, she, Nadja, Doll Nadja and The Guide have a "girls night" and watch Mamma Mia in Marwa's room in the attic.

Nandor grows bored of their marriage, and replaces Marwa with a clone of Freddie.

Trivia[]

  • Parisa Fakhri stated that despite the irregular filming order of the fourth season, she intentionally made Marwa sound progressively more airheaded as the season progressed. This is the result of Nandor using wishes to alter her appearance and personality.
