To get money and diamonds, you go to the Store and collect a Piggy Bank every day. You can either spend the level 1 piggy bank every day OR if you save up 4 piggy banks, you can merge them together which gives you a Gold Piggy Bank. I highly suggest this, as it gives you much more diamonds and coins. I can get 1000+ coins and 40+ diamonds from merging things from the Gold Piggy bank.

I do not really suggest prioritizing the Daily Task. It's a lot of work for just helpful boxes. If the Daily task needs, for example, a vase for a box of tools, I think that is a good deal, and I usually would do that, especially if I need the tools. But, if the Daily task wants a large Pliers thing for just a flower box, I never do those. It takes forever to get a pliers thing and only gives you about half a large flower in return.
Yes, do merge the sources, but what I do is completely empty them before merging. Although this will take a lot of energy, this gives you all of the items you can possibly get before you merge.
I completely skip "generic" events like the Knitting, Christmas, and Valentines ones. They do give you some prizes, but sap your energy and only give little decorations that disappear in a couple days in return. Events like Ignautis, Casey and Skatie, or the Linsay one are kinda mandatory, as they have tasks linked to them. FYI: It is very possible to complete the Stone Can task with out ignautis event, This event is really only useful for the things in it that you can sell.
