Does GAC Family have anything to do Hallmark?
Newly rebranded network, GAC Family, has been making waves among fans of the family rom-com and specifically those associated with Hallmark Channel. Previously known as Great American Country, the network was bought by a group of investors that includes former Crown Media CEO Bill Abbott.
However, Great American Media is giving the network a run for its money. Former CEO of Hallmark Media(Hallmark Channel's parent company) Bill Abbott acquired GAC, originally Great American Country, in June 2021. He rebranded to Great American Media one year later.
Abbott left his longtime Crown Media post in January 2020 following Hallmark's decision to stop airing a commercial featuring a same-sex wedding — a decision the network quickly reversed amid a sea of controversy. GAC Family is already in business with a number of other Hallmark vets, including Lori Loughlin.

She will have a large part in the annual Great American Christmas celebration for GAC Family (which will only be in its second year in 2022) going forward, along with having an executive role at the networks that allow her to help “curate” content for both channels.

Chabert signed a multi-picture deal with Crown Media Family Networks in February under which she will headline and executive produce movies and develop other content for Hallmark Channel and other Hallmark platforms over the next two years.

TVLine reports that Bure will not only act in and produce original content for the cable network but also assume an executive position within the company.
Most notable is Danica McKellar, whose move to GAC Family came just as she starred in the first Hallmark holiday movie of 2021, You, Me & the Christmas Trees. The other actor is Trevor Donovan. Donovan will make his GAC Family debut in Jingle Bell Princess on December 4 alongside co-star Merritt Patterson.
As 2022 has worn on, production has failed to materialize. At the end of 2021, Kristoffer Polaha responded to a “Mystery 101” fan on his Instagram with an exciting update.
Aurora Teagarden Mysteries has been canceled. Hallmark axed the series following Candace Cameron Bure's move to GAC Family. Several other Hallmark Movies & Mysteries series have been canceled, including Matchmaker Mysteries with Danica McKellar.
Further, the series boosted Hallmark Channel to be the #1 most-watched entertainment cable network in Weekend Primetime and Weekend Total Day among Women 18+. On a L+3 basis, the season averaged 2.9 million Total Viewers, 291,000 Women 25-54, and reached over 8.6 million Unduplicated Total Viewers.
New Movie Schedule
Great American Family announced in July 2022 the network's new Saturday Night movie slate, which will include fresh films every weekend from August 20, 2022, to October 21 of that year. The rom-com lineup will begin with Retreat to Paradise starring Melanie Stone, Casey Elliott and Brian Krause.
Hallmark Channel has announced a new Christmas movie, “A Holiday Spectacular” featuring the Radio City Rockettes, as part of the 2022 Countdown to Christmas programming.
