How high can an untrained tenor sing?
As a Tenor, you may be able to hit a G5 (range), but only sing comfortably up to a C5 (tessitura). The C5 is much more doable if you had to sing it in a song. Always remember: The most important thing is that you're comfortable when you're singing.
Average untrained tenor A2-Ab4 and will have naturally resonant falsetto/head voice up to Eb5 that can slide in and out of call register. Average Trained Baritone range is F2-G4(A4 Extreme). Average Trained tenor range is A2-C5(Eb5 Extreme).

The countertenor is the rarest of all voice types. The countertenor was not originally an operatic voice type as historically it was the castrati who would sing the female operatic roles in an age when it was not proper for women to sing in the opera.

Why are there so few tenors?
Tenor voices are perceived as rare because the untrained male voice will more naturally/readily achieve a baritone vocal range than a tenor vocal range, and that is true even for “true” tenors. My extension is of G2-C5 with no training. Am I a baritone or a tenor?
