Debt forgiveness offers several advantages that can provide much-needed relief to individuals struggling with overwhelming financial burdens. Is it a sin to owing debt?

While the Bible offers many warnings about the dangers of debt, it never says that you are out of God's will or violating one of God's commandments when you borrow. We can debate the wisdom of incurring debt under certain circ*mstances, but it's never a black-and-white issue.
While the specifics vary somewhat among the different chapters, the most common examples of non-dischargeable debts are: Alimony and child support. Certain unpaid taxes, such as tax liens. However, some federal, state, and local taxes may be eligible for discharge if they date back several years.
Debts & loans are Blessings when managed prudently, but become a curse when used abruptly. Gone are the days when our fathers, grandfathers bought house & vehicles in cash. Money generally borrowed from relatives & friends, banking system & credit institutions were not so user friendly and reachable to masses.
The Bible never says that going into debt is a sin. However, it issues a very stark warning: “The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender”. That's not at all how Jesus intended us to live.
If you're in debt, tithing should still be a priority. Listen, I know it's tempting to throw that money at your debt, but the discipline and faith that tithing brings are so worth it. Even while you're paying down debt, you can still have an attitude of generosity.
As in Matthew 6:12 above, debts are taken to mean sin. Just as the king (God) had forgiven the debts (sins) of his slaves, so the unforgiving slave should have forgiven the debts (sins toward him) of his fellow slaves. Forgiveness is to replace indebtedness.

You must pay your debts. As Christians, we must be true to our word, which means debts must be repaid. Debts are obligations and we cannot walk away from them. In fact, we must do our absolute best to pay them back according to the exact terms we established.
“Forgive us our debts” suggests that we have done things that we should not have done, and left undone things we should have done. “Forgive us our trespasses” comes from the Book of Common Prayer, which is why many people use the word trespasses.
