What does too many items lying around Animal Crossing?
For instance, dropping a piece of furniture on the ground instead of placing it properly will count it as clutter, along with DIY Recipes that you can't store in your house. Once you surpass 15 clutter items on the island, your star rating will drop.
Girlgotaplan· 8/1/2020. Clutter means you have too many furniture/trees/flowers per 8x8 section, which is what the game evaluates your island on. If more than 45/64 tiles in that section are covered, it's considered cluttered.
Shells, branches, stones, and star fragments don't count towards this. Another negative factor can be cluttering, so any 8x8 block that has 45 or more tiles covered with furniture will be considered as cluttered. Buildings, bridges, rocks, and buried items do not count towards this.
Clutter & Litter | 5-Star Rating Tips
Each block of your island is judged by an 8×8 grid square. If that 8×8 grid is full of stuff — precisely, more than 45 / 64 squares full — that section will be cluttered. Natural scenery like buildings, bridges, cliffs and waterways won't count toward your clutter.

Early stage weeds have 3 different varieties, but they all become hom*ogeneous as they reach full maturity. Unlike previous games, weeds do not affect the player's island rating until a certain threshold is reached.

What do you get for a 5-Star island?
Once you get a 5-star island, you'll receive the DIY recipe for the Golden Watering Can. Unfortunately, these tools do break and are not indestructible. The Golden Axe recipe can be obtained by destroying 100 flimsy axes, stone axes, or axes.
The score is based on a number of criteria including plant life, furniture placement around the island, and other factors. A score of at least 665 in the Development category and 450 in the Scenery category is required to achieve a 5-star island rating.
Lilies of the Valley spawn randomly in 5-star towns. You'll have to keep your town at a 5-star rating, and every day it stays at that ranking, you'll have a chance to spawn these flowers. There's nothing you can do to increase your chances of getting these, except to make sure you keep your town at a 5-star ranking.
