What happens if you get a 365 day streak on Duolingo?
You reach the first tier once you hit a 365-day streak. After that, it goes up every year, and this will be reflected on your weekly leaderboards and profile page. So if you keep the flame burning for 3 years, you'll have a little 3-year badge underneath your username.
The longest streak for a Duolingo employee right now is more than 3,000 days strong! We know our learners have extended their streaks in some wild and funny places – like the club, music festivals, and even on their wedding day!
Streak rewards
Each time your streak reaches a multiple of ten, you are rewarded with a number of lingots equal to that multiple. For example, reaching a 160 day streak results in a reward of 16 lingots.
So if you can only have as many as 2 streak freezes, then you won't be able to buy anymore if you already have 2 equipped. You can only lose a streak freeze by using it, meaning there's no expiry date!
A streak freeze must be purchased in advance of a day of a missed lesson to protect the streak. You can equip up to 2 streak freezes at a time. You can purchase a streak freeze via the app and web shop.
As of February 3rd 2023, the longest Duolingo streak is 3676 days, held by user christi3. This means that the longest Duolingo streak is over 10 years old! christi3 isn't the only user in this category, either. There are currently 5 others with streaks over 10 years old.
An informal study estimates that course completion rates fall as low as 0.01% for Spanish learners (second most popular language on Duolingo), and peak at 0.24% for Ukrainian learners.
Once you complete all the levels in a unit, you'll complete a challenge to earn your unit trophy. You'll also have the option to earn the Legendary trophy for each unit. NOTE: Super subscribers have unlimited attempts at Legendary.

The streak is a fun and simple feature, but committing yourself to keeping one is also one of the best ways to stay on track of your learning goals. It's no wonder that Duolingo learners who reach a streak of just 7 days are 3.6 times more likely to complete their course.
When you learn on Duolingo, you earn points, and we call them experience points, or XP for short. You can earn XP in various ways: Individual lessons = 10 XP (+possible bonus XP) Practice (accessible via the barbell icon via desktop web or Hearts tab in the iOS/Android app) = 10 XP.
What happens if Duolingo is too easy?

VIP status is unlocked at 365 days and puts a little streak counter underneath your username in the leaderboards.
The Streak Society is an exclusive club in Duolingo acquired by users upon reaching a 30 day streak. The program was rolled out on May 28th, 2022 and originally limited membership to users with a 365 day streak. It contains rewards for its members accessible through a tiered system.
There's no limit to how many practice sessions you can complete, so you can restore your full complement of hearts while still working on your target language.
By foregoing a few timer boosts or Streak Freezes before your trip, you can use those gems to freeze your streak during the trip when you might not otherwise be able to practice. Just remember to keep coming back to the app to refill your Streak Freezes after they're used! Save up your Streak Freezes.

Spanish has the most units in Duolingo at 230 units, as of May 25, 2023. This means that by unit count, Spanish is the longest Duolingo course.
Scores on the Duolingo English Test are reported on a scale from 10–160.
The shortest course on Duolingo is Navajo with only 11 skills. The Navajo Duolingo tree is the shortest Duolingo tree with only 28 lessons total. The maximum amount of crowns you can earn is 55 and there are only 143 lexemes to learn.
Duolingo can't make you fluent by itself
The other way in which the research is misleading is that learning a language requires more than just an app, in the same way learning just about anything requires more than just a textbook.
How long does it take to max out Duolingo?
(You can test out of levels to speed things along, but we're keeping things simple for this thought experiment!) To finish a language tree on Duolingo in 6 months, you will need to spend a minimum of 130 minutes per day on Duolingo, for a full 180 days.

What does the red dot mean on Duolingo?
Friend Updates are a form of notifications on Duolingo that can be accessed in your profile. If one of your followed users completes a milestone, you will receive a Friend Update marked by a red circle in the profile section.
But in your language-learning journey, you'll eventually get to the point where you've finished the Duolingo tree. Some courses are longer than others, but there is always an end-point to reach.
Duolingo gives you a placement test at the beginning of any new course so that you don't have to waste time with things you already know. I immediately “tested out” of 70% of the lessons and was able to take the final test for the Duolingo Award as they call it and completed it.
What is Streak Society? The Streak Society is described as Duolingo's most exclusive club. When it first launched, it was only open to users who had a streak of 365 days or more. So to become a member, you had to hit your daily XP goal every day for at least a year.
All things considered, if you're an enthusiastic, devoted language learner like me, Super Duolingo is well worth the price. If you don't mind watching ads and aren't obsessed with your streak, however, continuing to use the free version is probably just fine.
