What does tap off mean on the bus?

Tapping In and Out
If you forget to tap in or out with your contactless card you'll get the same maximum fare as you would with Oyster.
Credit tap payments over $100 will require extra authentication, like thumbprint or signature. Your customer may be prompted to enter their PIN. Debit payments over $100 will require your customer to insert their debit card and enter their PIN.
For transactions up to ₹5000, just tap to pay using your contactless Visa card at a contactless payment terminal and there is no need for a PIN. For transactions above ₹5000, you can still tap to pay, but you will need to enter PIN to complete the transaction.
