Compared to Common Monsters, Rare Monsters have longer breeding times, have different Likes, different egg designs, and they generate more Coins/Shards.
The Shugabush is a special Monster only breedable on Plant Island. Like other special Monsters, it has a unique combination with a low rate of success. It can be bred with Bowgart and Clamble. On Shugabush Island, it must be teleported.
Placing Monsters
Monsters on Gold island do not generate coins on the island, nor do they require decorations or feeding. They just sing. Monsters on this island can be muted and are able to have their volumes changed as any other island.

Breeding on Ethereal Island
On Ethereal Island, breeding a Ghazt with any other monster can result in a Rare Ghazt instead of a regular Ghazt.

Breeding. Just like its regular counterpart, the Rare Wubbox cannot be bred; it can only be purchased in the StarShop, not the regular Market. Fortunately, it is available at any time of the year. Currently, it can only be bought on Plant, Cold, Air, Water, Earth, and Ethereal Islands, for 1 Starpower, almost free.
What does a Wubbox need?
The Wubbox needs to have one of each of the Monsters available on the Island placed in it's inventory to power it up, this excludes Ethereal, Legendary and Seasonal Monsters. Once boxed, the Monster disappears from the Island permanently.

Wublins are unique in the Monster World because they can randomly generate any type of currency for you to collect – Coins, Diamonds, Treats or Shards.
It doesn't generate coins, and it doesn't make other monsters happy. If it was at Level 15 and had appeared on Gold Island, Boxing it on its natural island will make it disappear from Gold.

Who created the Wubbox?
It is confirmed that Galvana created the Wubbox after the Dawn of Fire, and the Wubbox is mentioned to be "imbued with an elemental energy unfamiliar to those on the surface" in its biography in My Singing Monsters.
In the audio files Wubbox is refered to as Box Monster, and the xml and bin files say it's element codename is SN, which stands for "Supernatural". During Big Blue Bubble's 2019 Extra Life stream, it was confirmed that Wubbox are, on average, 4 meters, or 13.1 feet tall.
Availability. Punkleton, like all Seasonals are only available during their own season, a weekend Out-of-Season event (6 months apart) and the Anniversary Month Celebration. It is also available to breed at any time on Seasonal Shanty.

Colossals are sprits that inhabit many of the Islands in the Monster World. They each have a different appearance based on what Island they are.
Brutus is easily one of the most powerful monsters in Monster Sanctuary with an attack stat that is unrivaled by most other monsters.
