What tuning does Korn use 6 string?
It's like the C# or Db tuning on a 6-string guitar but with an added bottom string. It goes like this: G#1-C#2-F#2-B2-E3-G#3-C#4.
They came factory tuned to KoRn signature tuning: A, D, G, C, F, A, D (low to high), and were retailed at USD 1,799. These guitars are characterized by the deep metallic sound, from the body being made of mahogany that is well suited for Korn's musical style.
Yup, with few exceptions, they pretty much exclusively use ADGCFAD tuning since their self-titled debut.
Standard guitar tuning, starting from the thickest, lowest-pitched string (the 6th string) at the top of neck is: E – A – D – G – B – E – The high E string—the thinnest, highest-pitched string at the bottom of the neck—is known as the 1st string and all others follow suit.
The Long Story
Korn's Head and Munky helped kick off the nu-metal movement with 7-string guitars and aggressive downtuned grooves.
Heavy Metal: Some metal bands seem to have as many drop D songs as they do standardly tuned songs. Slipknot, Tool, Avenged Sevenfold, Trivium, Korn, and plenty of other metal bands (particularly nü metal bands) use drop D to achieve heavier riffs.
Korn's bassist, Fieldy, tunes his 5-string bass one whole step down from standard 5-string bass tuning to A standard or: ADGCF.

During a conversation with UG's Alexander Kiryushkin, Korn guitarist Brian "Head" Welch talked about seven-string guitars and how they became a staple mark of the band's sound. Head is promoting "Perfectly Preserved," the new album from his Love & Death project.
Songs That Use Drop B Tuning
“Duality” by Slipknot relies on the open sixth string for its driving, hard sound.
What is the heaviest metal tuning?
What is Drop G Tuning on a Guitar? If you think drop D tuning is low, you haven't heard drop G tuning! This alternate tuning can be heard in some of the heaviest of the heavy genres, like hardcore, death metal, and doom metal.
Drop B tuning is an alternate guitar tuning for a six-string guitar where the strings are tuned to B F# B E G# C#. This tuning can be achieved by dropping the low E string two and half steps down from standard, while all the other strings are tuned one and half steps down.
However, unlike drop D tuning which only requires you to lower one string, in drop C you must lower all six strings of your guitar. You might notice strings buzzing when you try this tuning for the first time because all of your strings will be looser than they normally are in standard tuning.
Anything is possible with some mild modifications (like very large lower strings to get way low) but depending on the style you're going for and how you play, you can get some pretty good results with the standard 24-25" scale length guitar to about drop C (CGCFAD) without needing to change all that much.
C# tuning (also known as Db tuning) is an alternative guitar tuning, where each string is one and half steps lower than in standard tuning, or one half-step lower than D tuning. The resulting notes are C# F# B E G# C# (Db Gb Cb Fb Ab Db).

A lot of metal is played on a six-string guitar, but some sub-genres have branched off to include 7, 8 & 9 string guitars.
When thinking of a band name, someone suggested "corn", but the band rejected that name, so Shaffer had the idea to spell the name with both a "K" instead of a "C", and a backwards "R", so the band's name would appear as "KoЯn".

Drop D Tuning
Strangely enough, the most popular alternate tuning, Drop D, is not a popular tuning with Metallica. There are only two songs that feature Drop D exclusively: All Nightmare Long. Just A Bullet Away.
What distortion does Korn use?
As mentioned earlier, Matt used a Mesa/Boogie Throttle Box distortion pedal and ran it into his Blackstar Studio 10. Able to reach the insane gain levels possible with a Triple Rectifier, the Throttle Box is also very tweakable and amp-like with its 5-band EQ section.
Korn (1994–1996)
The album received positive reviews by critics, and it is said to have established the new wave of metal. As well as sparking the nu metal genre, the album also started record producer Ross Robinson's music career. It also influenced other bands, such as Slipknot, Coal Chamber, and Limp Bizkit.
The Slipknot sound is a mix of heavy and alternative metal. The electric guitars are typically down-tuned and the distortion is set to create a thick, dense sound. They are also often played in unison or with slight variations to create a wall of sound effect.
While it is true that the majority of their discography is in A-440, they played around with alternate tunings quite a lot in the early days, both live and in the studio.
This ended up not working very well, so instead Eddie Van Halen changed to a regular set of strings. He used Fender Heavy Strings to begin with, later on changing to Fender 150XL gauge strings. These were supposedly used until the association with Ernie Ball Music Man.
Ed is known to use 12-53 gauge Elixir phosphor bronze strings as well as Dunlop capo.
In terms of the jazz guitar greats, John Abercrombie used one of the lighter variations of strings (0.10s), whilst Mike Stern & John Scofield are all reported to use medium 0.11 strings. In terms of the heavyweights, Joe Pass used 0.12s and Wes Montgomery was apparently on 0.14s!
For example, Slipknot usually tune their 6 string guitars down to Drop-B. This allows them to play the same low notes as you would normally only get on a 7 string guitar. If a guitarist only cared about low-ranged notes, tuning down a 6 string guitar is easier. What is this?
Absolutely, and it is very easy. In fact, you tune the same way you do on a 6-string guitar. Drop your E to D. Now you are ready to play your 7 string in drop-D.
E Standard. And this is the standard tuning that everyone is used to. As for Van Halen, they began implementing it on the “1984” album and onwards. Either way, it's the same tuning that most guitar players use.
What tuning is Kurt Cobain?
Drop D Tuning in Alternative Rock
Nirvana, the band that gave the world the ferocious drumming of Dave Grohl (who later birthed Foo Fighters), the murky bass stylings of Krist Novoselic, and the late, great vocalist/guitarist/songwriter Kurt Cobain, used Drop D tuning on nearly all of their songs.
The tuning is standard tuning E A D G B E. Most Foo Fighters songs have a lot of guitar parts, however, "My Hero" is one of their easier ones to learn since the riffs are more simplistic and don't contain a lot of guitar layers.
The D standard tuning is pretty common among death metal bands. This is essentially the same as the E standard, just detuned by two semitones.
The riffs are very fast, solos a little short and simplistic, fast paced shouting, and most songs are in either e minor or d minor.
The most common punk ones are drop tunings (drop D, drop A on a 7 string).

It actually has two separate hard-shell cases and you just unbuckle it and it pulls apart [down the centre]. “I've got it set up with B-standard on the bottom, which is baritone tuning: and that's basically everything we do with Five Finger Death Punch.
This signature set consists of James's preferred 11-50 gauge combination using thicker Paradigm core wire and plasma enhanced nickel-plated steel wrap wire. They are ideal for James's aggressive style and technique, offering a heavier sound with extra pitch stability.

Self explanatory. Midwest emo / "twinkly emo guitars with capo" tuning used by Hot Mulligan - in this case the capo is on the 3rd fret.
Cornell was a big fan of alternate and dropped tunings, and one move he used to great effect was slackening his guitar's low E string down a perfect 4th, to B (low to high, B A D G B E), what some players refer to as drop-B tuning, not to be confused with drop-D tuning (transposed) down a minor 3rd,” which is very ...

Unfortunately just about all of their songs are in A standard on 7 string guitars. But you can grab a pretty decent 7 string guitar from Guitar Center or even Reverb.com.
These are exactly the same as each other, though one is in an open B tuning that we like to use a lot: B, F#, B, E, F#, B. We've consolidated our setlist a bit so that we only need three guitars.”
