Why are Model Ts so cheap?
The Model T was manufactured on the Ford Motor Company's moving assembly line at Ford's revolutionary Highland Park Plant. Due to the mass production of the vehicle, Ford Motor Company could sell the vehicle for between $260 and $850 as Henry Ford passed production savings on to his customers.
Although automobiles had been produced from the 1880s, until the Model T was introduced in 1908, they were mostly scarce, expensive, and often unreliable. Positioned as reliable, easily maintained, mass-market transportation, the Model T was a great success.
The Model T was the first mass-produced car that was affordable enough for a wide audience. In 1909 a new Model T cost $850, but by 1924 the price had gone down to only $260. The average assembly line worker could purchase one with four months' pay in 1914.
As assembly efficiency increased, prices kept dropping, allowing more and more people to be able to afford their own car. By 1917, 48 percent of U.S. passenger vehicles were Ford's Model T.

The Model T was released in 1908. That summer, 31 people were killed in auto accidents in Detroit alone. The cars were a fire hazard, as gas tanks were located underneath the seats, and their flat glass windshields were known to severely cut anyone ejected from the car in a crash.

Why was the Model T bad?
Cons: Compared to the modern standards of the automotive industry, the Model T has poor handling, reliability, safety, and a lack of performance with only 20 horsepower, so it's far more fun to look at than to ride in.
While the Model T has a pair of drum brakes on the rear axle, the brake pedal itself doesn't interact with these at all. Instead, it actuates a band which squeezes down on the rotating parts within the transmission to slow the car down.

Engine – The Ford Model T was equipped with a 177 cubic inch four-cylinder engine with 20 horsepower, with a top speed around 45 mph. The Ford Model A was equipped with a similar flat head four-cylinder engine, this one with 201 cubic inch displacement and twice the power at 40 hp and a top speed of 65 mph.
But the Ford was designed before driver controls were standardized, so the odd position of the throttle, brake, and shifter make driving a Model T an archaic and dangerous experience.
While it still used a four cylinder, similar to the Model T, the Model A was more powerful and smooth and was capable of 55 to 65 mph. It came with Triplex shatterproof safety windshield and hydraulic shocks, both a first for Ford and unheard of in the low-priced field.
1923 was the Model T's best year and is still today the highest annual production figure ever achieved by a single model with 2,011,125 units produced in a single year!
What does T in Model T stand for?

Origins of 'Tin Lizzie'
Another claim says that during a 1922 race at Pikes Peak, Colorado, participant Noel Bullock named his Model T “Old Liz,” but its unkempt state made people compare it to a tin can, earning it the “Tin Lizzie” moniker. Unexpectedly, Bullock's car won and the nickname stuck to all Model Ts.
One of the neatest model T coupes I ever saw (a long time ago), was a very original 1919 that had a nice after-market gasoline tank mounted below the back of the trunk, in front of the bottom of the spare tire.
The car could thus cruise without the driver having to press any of the pedals. There was no separate clutch pedal. When the car was in neutral, the middle pedal was used to engage reverse gear, and the right pedal operated the transmission brake – there were no separate brakes on the wheels.
It also eliminated the need for retooling to accommodate for different colours. To put it simply, using only black paint cut costs. During the infancy of the automotive industry, the Model T was the car to own. Over 15 million "Tin Lizzies" were sold during its lifespan (1908-1927).

What replaced the Model T?
