Methods Of Fusing

APPAREL MANUFACTURING – II 3(3+0)

Lesson 34 : Commercial techniques of fabrication

Methods Of Fusing

  1. Reverse Fusing: In this method outer fabric lies on top of the fusibles. E.g. fusing shirt & blouse collars.

  2. Sandwich Fusing: This is carried out only on a horizontal continuous press where heat is applied both above and below.

  3. Double Fusing: This is a fusing two sorts of interlining to the outer fabric in one operation. E.g. shirt collars & men’s jacket fronts.

FAQs

APM II: Methods Of Fusing? ›

During fabric fusing, an adhesive resin is applied to one side of the interlining, and then bonded to another piece of fabric by applying heat and pressure. The resin solidifies as it cools, strengthening the bond between the two parts.

What is the method of fusing process? ›

During fabric fusing, an adhesive resin is applied to one side of the interlining, and then bonded to another piece of fabric by applying heat and pressure. The resin solidifies as it cools, strengthening the bond between the two parts.

How many types of fusing are there? ›

There are three types of fusing process used in garments which are mentioned below: Reverse fusing, Sandwich fusing, Double fusing.

What is fusing technique? ›

Fusing Process in Garments

At present, apparel manufacturing cannot be imagined without fusing process. Resin coating of interlining melted by heating into the fabric under pressure and when it becomes cool and hard; both fabric and interlining are attached strongly.

What is a continuous fusing press? ›

Continuous Fusing Press. In this machine, the parts of the garment and the interlining are placed one upon another properly for stiffening fabrics, among other things. On the endless loop or loop-shaped feed sheet and fed in a flat condition. The feed sheet carries this part and the interlining to the fusing chamber.

What is an example of fusing? ›

The heat of the fire fused many of the machine's parts together.
  • The inspectors have testing equipment to check on the welds that fuse the pipes together.
  • Encaustic art is a painting method that features colors in wax that are fused to a surface with hot irons.
  • The coloured glass is heated until it fuses together.

What are the requirements of fusing? ›

The Requirements of Fusing

The strength of the bond of the laminate must be sufficient to withstand handling during subsequent operations in the garment manufacturing process as well as the flexing which takes place in wear. Fusing must take place without either strike-through or strike back occurring.

What is reverse fusing? ›

Reverse Fusing:

This method entails heating and applying pressure to activate the adhesive on the interlining to form a bond between the interlining and the outer fabric.

What is the block fusing method? ›

Simply put, block fusing is the process of cutting a large block of fabric and interfacing the same size. They're fused together and the corresponding pattern pieces (that require interfacing) are then cut from the block.

What is the temperature of fusing? ›

This is usually done roughly between 700 °C (1,292 °F) and 820 °C (1,510 °F), and can range from tack fusing at lower temperatures, in which separate pieces of glass stick together but still retain their individual shapes, to full fusing at higher ones, in which separate pieces merge smoothly into one another.

What is the fusion technique? ›

What is fusion technique? Fusion is a technique for preparing samples for analysis with X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF), Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) or Atomic Absorbtion (AA). This allows the composition of chemical elements to be determined.

What is the difference between bonding and fusing? ›

Bonding fabrics and a variety of substrates together is a process which creates a permanent bond between two or multiple layers which can be similar or different. The benefits of fusing materials together is that you reinforce the fabric, improving the durability and form. What fabrics can you use this for?

What is the process of fusing metal? ›

Welding is the process of fusing two or more parts using heat, pressure, or both. It's often done on metal, thermoplastics, and even wood. The resulting joint is known as a weldment, and the conjoined parts are known as the parent material. The material used to create the weldment is called a filler or consumable.

What is the method of fusing machine? ›

It involves applying a thermoplastic resin to the interlining using various coating methods. The resin is activated by heat and pressure during the fusing process to bond the interlining to the garment fabric. Common fusing methods include flat bed presses, continuous fusing machines, and high frequency equipment.

What is fusing technology? ›

This document discusses fusing, which is the process of bonding two fabrics together using heat and pressure. It describes how thermoplastic resins applied to a base fabric are activated by heat in a press, allowing the resin to flow and bond the fabrics.

What does fusing do? ›

Fusing or otherwise known as interfacing gives support and stabilizes areas of a panel ready to be attached to a garment. Interfacing is also used for reinforcing and preventing fabric from stretching. Interfacing works by applying heat which melts the glue and in turn bonds the fusing to the fabric.

What is fusing in pants? ›

There are two main types: non-fusible and fusible. Fusing is an alternative joining method to sewing that uses heat to attach interlining, especially in stiff areas like plackets, collars, and cuffs. The three types of fusing are reverse, sandwich, and double fusing.
