Fusing Process in Garments

At present, apparel manufacturing cannot be imagined without fusing process. Resin coating of interlining melted by heating into the fabric under pressure and when it becomes cool and hard; both fabric and interlining are attached strongly.

Continuous Fusing Press. In this machine, the parts of the garment and the interlining are placed one upon another properly for stiffening fabrics, among other things. On the endless loop or loop-shaped feed sheet and fed in a flat condition. The feed sheet carries this part and the interlining to the fusing chamber.

The Requirements of Fusing

The strength of the bond of the laminate must be sufficient to withstand handling during subsequent operations in the garment manufacturing process as well as the flexing which takes place in wear. Fusing must take place without either strike-through or strike back occurring.

Reverse Fusing:

This method entails heating and applying pressure to activate the adhesive on the interlining to form a bond between the interlining and the outer fabric.

Simply put, block fusing is the process of cutting a large block of fabric and interfacing the same size. They're fused together and the corresponding pattern pieces (that require interfacing) are then cut from the block.
