Hollywood is big business and actors get a big chunk of that. And there is one actor who rules the roost for most money earned from a single film, at least in terms of a single film.
Keanu Reeves is the highest-paid actor in history for a single film. He received 30 million dollars for Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions. Although it is clearly a successful saga, like 'John Wick', it beat a lot of strong competition.
He is followed by Bruce Willis for 'The Sixth Sense'; Tom Cruise for 'Top Gun Maverick', 'War of the Worlds' and 'Mission Impossible 2'; Will Smith for 'Men in Black 3'; Robert Downey Jr. for 'Iron Man 3', 'Avengers: Infinity War' and 'Avengers: Endgame'; Sandra Bullock for 'Gravity'; Tom Hanks in 'Forrest Gump'; Tom Cruise again for 'Mission Impossible'; Harrison Ford in 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull'; and Jack Nicholson for 'Batman'.
Donated 70% to cancer research
It is said that most of the actor's earnings for his starring role in 'The Matrix', that 30 million dollars per film, went to a charity organisation specialising in the fight against cancer. 70% of what he earned.
This was because Keanu Reeves' younger sister reportedly suffered from the disease while filming the futuristic films, which led the actor to take an interest in the subject, even setting up a private fund in the early 2000s dedicated to promoting research and finding better treatments or even a cure for the disease.
