“ | The extraordinary Ghazt only manifests itself when conditions are absolutely perfect. Imbued with the Ethereal power of Plasma, its sleek frame and ability to become intangible are ideal for slipping in and out of places unnoticed. However, these traits also make it vulnerable to accidental interdimensional travel. It plays well with the other Monsters, but just like a cat, it sometimes prefers to be alone... or in the company of others of its kind. | ” |

Description
Ghazt is a Single-Element Ethereal Monster with the Plasma element. It is found on Plant Island and can be teleported to Ethereal Island once fed to level 15. Ghazt was added on June 16th, 2013 during Version 1.1.7. It is best obtained by breeding Entbrat and T-Rox. By default, its breeding time is 1 day and 12 hours long. Ghazt has a great coin production on Plant Island and is comparable to Rare Entbrat. Although it is recommended to get other Monsters with higher coin production.
Once teleported to Ethereal Island, Ghazt takes 10 hours to incubate. You can then breed it with any other Monster to get more. Like all Single-Element Ethereals, Ghazt has excellent shard production, bested only by other Single-Element Rare and Epic Monsters. Note that Ghazt has a slightly lower rate than Reebro, Jeeode, and Humbug.
Song
Audio samples:
Lead (Memory Game; Plant Island):
Pad (Plant Island):
Instrument: Electronic keyboard
Ghazt softly patters one of five floating orbs, which make electronic keyboard sounds. However, on Ethereal Island, it plays a string+synth like sound with damping, also containing a quiet “twinkling” sound. To play its Plant Island tune on any piano, do this pattern:
C C D E♭ F G, C D E♭ F G F E♭ D C, C C D E♭ F G G, C C D E♭ F E♭ D E♭ D C.
(Next octave higher) C C C D E♭ C, C C D E♭ F G, G G F E♭ G, G G F E♭, C C C D E♭ C, C C D E♭ G, G C F E♭ G, G G F E♭ D, (repeat whole song)
On Plant Island, Ghazt has a plasmatic ambiance accompanying its song.
On Ethereal Island, Ghazt mainly plays descending arpeggios and long notes.
The arpeggios that are made are based of the chords of the main verse of Ethereal Island. The chords are E Major, A Major, F# Minor, and B Major. However, the notes on the seconds track are different. The first bar switches between: B and F#, on the second bar: B and G#, On the 3rd: B and E, and on the 4th (last) we have B and E♭ (D#).
VSTs
Virtual Studio Technology is an audio plugin software that has libraries of sound effects and synthesized instruments. Within these libraries are SoundFonts, which are the individual effects and instruments themselves. The Monster-Handlers utilize several VSTs to create the sounds of instrumental and sometimes vocal Monsters.

Breeding
Ghazt can be bred using a combination of an Entbrat and one Triple-Element Monster. Possible combinations:
There is roughly a 1% chance of breeding a Ghazt successfully. It is uncertain whether some combinations work better than others, but for the shortest wait time per attempt, the Entbrat and T-Rox combination is recommended. According to statistics, doing 70 attempts gives you a 50% chance of successfully breeding at least one Ghazt; and doing 690 attempts gives you a 99.9% chance of successfully breeding at least one Ghazt. The Ethereal Breeding Bonanzas improve your chances of breeding a Ghazt. (There are chances of breeding a Rare Triple-Element Monster.)The Rare version of any monster can be used for breeding instead of the common version.

Every Monster has different things that they like. For every unique object that they like that's placed near the Monster, the Monster's happiness will increase by 25%. Placing more than one of the same liked item near a Monster won't increase its happiness by an additional amount. If there's a Unity Tree on the island, items don't need to be near the Monster. Below are the things liked by Ghazt:
- Entbrat (requires level 9) ()
- Whisp (level 9) ()

Statistics
Earning Rate and Maximum Income
Earning rate is in Coins per minute or Shards per hour and depends on Happiness% (Likes increase Happiness) and Monster Level. Each Monster also has a maximum amount of income it can hold at a time. Increasing the Monster's Level also increases this limit.

Ethereal Island
Feeding Monsters
Each Monster needs to be fed four times before it reaches the next level. Increasing the Monster's level increases the shards earned per hour, as well as the maximum shards earned.

Possible Monster Names

- One of the default names for Ghazt, “Aethuri-awl”, is not only a pun on “Ethereal”, but also the name of a level in the Thumpies game.

Notes
- Ghazt's name comes from the middle-English word "ghast", meaning "to frighten" or "having a weird appearance". It's related to the word "ghastly" and the spelling is also associated with the word "ghost", all possibly relevant to the Monster's appearance. Ghazt may also be based on Bast, the Egyptian cat god, which could be linked to its design.
- Multiple aspects of Ghazt's bio were later changed:
- The line "The rare Ghazt only manifests itself when conditions are absolutely perfect." had been changed to show "The extraordinary Ghazt..." in the Version 1.3.3 update to avoid confusion with the addition of Rare Ghazt.
- The sentences "All the Ghazt really wants to do is return home to... wherever it is it came from. No one is entirely sure." were removed from the bio after the addition of its home, Ethereal Island.
- Ghazt and the Magical Monster Xyster (and by extension their Rare/Epic forms) are part of a family together known as The Ghazkin.
- The orbs which float around the Monster are meant to resemble balls of yarn, fitting Ghazt's cat-like appearance.
- Notably, Ghazt's Fan Kit image is inaccurate, as the orbs are missing the swirls.
- Ghazt is the only Monster on Plant Island to be suspended off the ground.
- The reward for placing a Ghazt is much lower than other Ethereals. While the rest reward 50,000-100,000 , or some , Ghazt only rewards 5,000 and 50 .
- Between June 13th, 2018 and June 20th, 2018, Ghazt was discounted by 75% to celebrate its 5-year anniversary since its debut.
- When Ghazt first came to the game, you were required to have a Ghazt on Gold Island to power up the Gold Island Wubbox, however, you could only feed it to level 10 when you would receive the message "This Monster is satisfied for now, and will not eat any more food." This was shortly fixed, but the message remained.
- Now, Ghazt is only required for the Wubbox on Ethereal Island, and is not able to go to Gold Island, because Ethereal Monsters cannot go to Gold Island.
- In the Light Island, Life-Formula 2023, and Ethereal Workshop trailers, Ghazt can be heard making cat-like "meow"s. This heavily implies that Ghazts are able to meow like cats, since their appearance is based off of one.
- A group of Ghazts is called a 'maelstrom'. (Confirmed by Monster-Handler Matt in the BBB Extra Life 2020 stream)
- Ghazt was the first Ethereal to have an Epic variant, the second being Reebro.
- Ghazt was the last Single-Element Ethereal to receive a costume.
- However, Ghazt is still the only Single-Element Ethereal to not have a Seasonal costume.
- Ghazt currently has the least amount of costumes out of all Single-Element Ethereals.
- Ghazt is the first Monster to make its series debut on a Sunday, with the second Monster being Hornacle in Dawn of Fire, and the third Monster being Adult Torrt.
- Ghazt is the only one of those three to not be a Celestial.
