Did the Oceanic 6 really get rescued?
Only two attempts at escaping the island were successful, the Oceanic Six Escape and the Ajira Escape. Only one of the Oceanic Six was on the second rescue, Kate. The other members of the Oceanic Six (minus Aaron) died upon returning to the island, with the exception of Hurley, who remained behind.
How do the Oceanic Six get off the island? By helicopter. Sawyer gives Kate a good-bye kiss, then leaps into the water; Sun and Aaron escape the freighter onto the copter, which then takes off just before the freighter blows up.

Oceanic Airlines Flight 815 was a scheduled flight from Sydney, Australia to Los Angeles, California, United States, on a Boeing 777-200ER. On September 22, 2004 at 4:16 P.M., the airliner, carrying 324 passengers, deviated from its original course and disappeared over the Pacific Ocean.
There are only 6 survivors of the middle section that are alive, Walt, Sawyer, Kate, Claire who left the island and Rose and Hurley who stayed on the island, and a maximum of 14 survivors of the tail section that are presumably still alive including Bernard, bringing a grand total of 20 survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 ...
Sawyer, Kate and Claire made it off the island for good aboard the Ajira plane (accompanied by Miles, Lapidus and by the finally-aging Richard.) Hurley, Ben and Desmond stayed behind to protect the island.
Out of the 324 people on board, ("One of Us") there were 72 initial survivors (71 humans and 1 dog) spread across 3 sections (1 front, 49 middle and 22 tail). Most of these survivors have either spoken, or have been seen or referenced in the episodes of the show.
Due to their being involved in an Oceanic plane crash, they are known as the Oceanic Six. Included in this group are Dr. Jack Shephard, Kate Austen, Hugo 'Hurley' Reyes, Sun-Hwa Kwon, Sayid Jarrah, and Aaron Littleton. At the time of the crash, Kate was a fugitive in federal custody.

They were candidates identified by Jacob to succeed him after his eventual murder by Ben, a slaying instigated by the Man in Black. The Man in Black wanted them back so he could see about getting them to kill each other.
What happens to Claire in Lost?
Claire flew to Los Angeles at the coaxing of a psychic to give up her unborn child for adoption. She crashed on to the Island, where she began an inconsistent relationship with fellow survivor Charlie Pace. One of the Others kidnapped her, and she suffered amnesia after the escape.
Lindelof & Cuse have stated many times that the Island was not Purgatory, but there do not seem to be any references to them saying that the [Island]] is not Hell. Lindelof & Cuse have stated that "They're not dead" - but this could refer to Benjamin Linus, Juliet, and other people who were alive at the time.
It was believed that Cecelia survived the crash because her mother shielded her with her own body. The four-year-old suffered serious injuries including a fractured skull, broken leg and collarbone and third-degree burns. She underwent four skin grafts for the burns on her arms and legs.
The following day, the Man in Black, as the monster, rips the pilot (Greg Grunberg) from the co*ckpit of the plane and kills him, leaving his mangled body in a tree; the pilot's corpse is found by Jack, Kate Austen (Evangeline Lilly), and Charlie Pace (Dominic Monaghan).

Eventually, these characters are drawn together and begin to recall their time on the island, which leads to the final scene's revelation: they are actually dead in the flashsideways, which is essentially a netherworld the survivors created in order to congregate so they can move on together to “whatever comes next”.
But the characters definitely survived the plane crash and really were on a very real island. At the very end of the series, though? Yep, they were all dead when they met up in heaven for the final "church" scene.
José Salvador Alvarenga holds the record for the longest solo survival at sea. He was adrift for 438 days, and traveled over 6,700 miles. Alvarenga is a fisherman, and on November 17, 2012, he set sail from the fishing village of Costa Azul in Mexico.
The Island is home to a mysterious entity, consisting of a black mass accompanied by mechanical-like sounds and electrical activity within, dubbed the "Smoke Monster" or just the "Monster" by the survivors. The monster has been described by Lost producer Damon Lindelof as "one of the biggest secrets" of the mythology.

After the accident, Parrado was in a coma for four and a half days, but he recovered, only to find himself alone in the middle of the Andean mountains. He survived for 72 days where no one is expected to -- at an altitude of more than 3 000 metres, without proper equipment, water, and food, at the age of 22.
Obviously Walt is referring to the hatch and whatever he saw frightened him to the point that he admitted to his dad that he had destroyed the first raft and also added that he now knows they must leave the island. It's a chilling moment and a good indicator of things to come.
Ben tells Danielle and Alex to leave Locke's camp and go to the island temple, but they are ambushed on the way. Michael's journey from escaping the island to working as Ben's spy on Widmore's ship is revealed, as well as his mission.
4 Of The Numbers Are In Kate's Mugshot
The subject file of Kate's mugshot is 00-0428-23-5607-01. This was another opportunity to include the show's infamous numbers as 4, 8, 23, and 42 are all included, with only 15 and 16 missing.
Desmond killed Kelvin outside the station on September 22, 2004 and returned too late to push the button in a timely fashion. This triggered a system failure and released a massive magnetic surge that caused Flight 815 to break-up in mid-air and crash on the Island.
After Kate, Sayid and the Others free Ben and kill the mercenaries, Jack, Kate, Sayid, Hurley, Sun, Aaron, Desmond and Frank are rescued by Penny after Ben and Locke succeed in moving the island and the freighter explodes. In flashforwards, the Oceanic Six and Walt react to visits from a man known as Jeremy Bentham.
"Walkabout" is one of the most important episodes of "Lost," and features one of the most powerful flashbacks in the entire series. The first season of "Lost" remains its best because of its brilliant structure, with each individual episode dedicated to one of the characters' lives before the plane crash.

She tells Jack about her affair with his father and their daughter, Claire, causing Jack to finally realise his relation to Claire. Claire herself learned of this sometime during the three years she spent alone on the Island, as, upon Jack's return, she greeted him as "my brother".
At Christian Shephard's memorial service, Carole Littleton, who has recovered from her coma, tells Jack she and Christian had a relationship which produced Claire, revealing her to be Jack's half-sister.
After leaving the Island in the second-season finale "Live Together, Die Alone", Michael was supposed to return in the season three finale, but Perrineau was filming the pilot of Demons, so was unable to return.
The pair said the island was never purgatory, as widely believed. “No, no, no. They were not dead the whole time,” Cuse said, explaining that footage of the plane wreckage at the end of the show was meant to act as a buffer.
Jack did not become a monster
Jacob killed his brother and "fed" the smoke monster the body by accident. This gave the smoke a form to use so he could escape. Jacob's brother died, but the monster merely used his body. Jack killed the monster.

Three people are dead after two small planes collided mid-air at a California airport on Thursday, authorities said.
What happened to pilot who jumped out of plane?
The incident occurred July 29 about 30 miles (48 kilometers) south of Raleigh-Durham International Airport. Charles Hew Crooks, 23, did not have a parachute, and his body was found in a backyard in the town of Fuquay-Varina.
After being thrown about by the Monster, Eko is finally thrown to the ground. Fatally wounded, he whispers "I saw the Devil" to Locke before dying, although Locke, for whatever reason, decides to tell Sayid he said, "We're next." As he dies, we see an image of Eko and Yemi as happy children, walking into the distance.
When Sawyer is shot on the raft his injury, and journey to return to the island camp, leaves him septic and very near death. Despite the discovery of the hatch and all the supplies it has to offer, everyone believes Sawyer will die. He doesn't. He regains his health and lives.

Most flights are intended to spend as little time as possible over water, since storms are more common over the ocean than on land. An aircraft would not be safe to fly over the Pacific Ocean due to the stormy weather and frequent lightning strikes that occur there.
The Pacific Ocean is a massive body of water that will require an extremely large amount of fuel to fly across. Rather than flying directly across the Pacific Ocean, most commercial flights take curved routes because they are actually shorter than shooting straight across a distance.
Weather and jet streams
There are many thunderstorms that occur over the ocean which can lead to turbulence. While planes are very much capable of flying through unexpected thunderstorms, the Points Guy writes that safety is always the first priority and taking risks is not the MO for most air traffic control.
Walt is one of the five original Main Characters still alive at the end of the series. Walt is also one of the few confirmed Oceanic Flight 815 survivors by the end of the series, along with Zach, Emma, Kate, Sawyer, Claire, Aaron, Hurley, Cindy, Rose, Bernard and Vincent.
