The Elden Beast is a main story boss fight, so to complete the game you will have to defeat them. They can be found in the Elden Throne, which is an area accessed in Leyndell, Ashen Capital after burning the Erdtree. However, the Elden Beast is only the second phase of the fight, as first, you will need to defeat Radagon of the Golden Order, who is revealed to be the other half of Marika.

  • Our Elden Ring Warrior build has the perfect equipment to take on the Elden Beast, so check out what you will need.

Elden Ring Elden Beast: Phase One Radagon Of The Golden Order

Radagon is a powerful boss who wields a holy hammer. His health pool isn't too high, but he deals very high holy damage, so we recommend coming into this fight with some resistance to this status. If you're wondering what Radagon is weak to, the main Radagon weakness is fire, meaning you should be able to drop him quickly with a build that is geared toward that status.

Lastly, the Elden Ring Black Knife Tiche is a fantastic summon, as she can deal a tonne of damage while still dodging away and avoiding his attacks. She will also likely last into the second phase, and makes for an excellent Elden Beast weakness, where her help will be super useful.

For Radagon's attacks, there are only a few to watch out for, but any of them can be lethal if you aren't focused. Lightning Spear is an attack that sees Radagon chuck a large spear toward you which later explodes. You can jump over this or dodge to the side but stay away from it until it explodes later. There is another similar attack to this where he will throw five lightning spears in a fan pattern, sometimes repeating the process twice, but you can dodge through this to get some attacks on Radagon.

One of the big attacks to avoid is his grab, where Radagon will materialise his missing arm before grabbing and pinning you down while smashing the hammer down several times. Using Black Knife Tiche - or any other suitable summon - will come in handy here for avoiding this move, as getting grabbed can be a death sentence due to the damage.

The rest of his moveset is quite simple. Charge Swing is a move that causes Radagon to charge toward you and swing his hammer, but you can dodge into the move to avoid it and get some hits in. Lastly, there is the Jump Ground Slam, where he will hover in the air for a moment before lunging down toward you, dealing AoE damage. You will need especially good timing for this move, as you need to dodge toward Radagon as he is lunging down to avoid both pangs of damage.

As long as you can consistently dodge these attacks, you will be able to get in some good damage before backing off. With a summon dealing consistent damage, or by making use of Radagon's weakness to fire, this first phase shouldn't be too tough.

  • Make sure you utilise your Elden Ring Smithing Stones before this fight so your weapon will deal the max damage.

Elden Ring Elden Beast: Phase Two The Elden Beast

The Elden Beast has much more health than Radagon, and also comes with the same damage type, so holy resistance is once again a good idea to tank a bit more damage. Holy damage will heal them, so avoid using it completely, and they have resistance to all status effects, meaning the Elden Beast weakness is pure physical damage. They also have a weak spot on their stomach which you can aim for to deal more damage. One of the things that makes the Elden Beast quite difficult, is its large moveset, consisting of 20 potential moves, though if you get the fight over quickly, you'll only be forced to dodge some of these.

Straight off the bat, you'll want to run behind the Elden Beast as their first attack is typically a large spread of fire. This will give you a chance to deal some damage, and if the Black Knife Tiche summon is still alive from the previous fight, she should use her red flame projectile to get a good chunk of the bosses HP down quickly. After this, it could use a number of attacks, but you'll mostly want to stay close to keep dealing damage.

Hand Slam is one of the basic attacks the Elden Beast performs, as it crushes its left hand into the ground, but this can be dodged easily in any direction. Sword Swing is another simple move, where they will move backward a short distance before swinging their sword. Dodging into this move is your best bet, as dodging away will cause you to be hit toward the end of your roll. It has another similar move called Swimming Sword Swing, where it will swim through the ground, before loping back with a large swing. Dodge this the same way you would the previous one.

It has many magic abilities too. Black Hole Teleport allows it to swim into a black hole on the ground that teleports it somewhere else in the arena, but the black hole will explode afterwards. For this, just avoid the black hole entirely and run to where the Elden Beast moves too. Sparkling Dust is a big damage move they will swipe their hand in an arc, which leaves behind a cloud of dust that explodes. Dodge forward during the swing to avoid the initial damage and then stay away from the dust completely.

The Elden Beast grab attack is also devastating due to the massive damage, but it's easy to dodge because its hand will glow first. A unique attack that can confuse players is the Elden Ring Blast. This will cause a ring to form in the sky and then on the ground. The latter will begin to close and deal damage, so you will need to sprint or roll out of it quickly. If you get the Elden Beast below 50% HP, then this move is more complex, and you will have to jump over parts of the ring while escaping.

Another move it can perform is called Wing Spears, where it will launch magical spears from its wings which chase the player and crash into the ground. You can just run in a circle to avoid this. Flying Flame Sword is another AoE attack it performs, where the Elden Beast will jump into the air, ignite its sword, and crash down while swinging the sword. You'll want to roll into them just as they are coming down to avoid the damage.

A move that many are struggling with is Chasing Stars. This causes the Elden Beast to fire out small orbs along with a bigger one for a period of time. Avoiding all damage during this move is extremely difficult, but you should try to run away for a time before rolling back into the stars just as they reach you. This should let you avoid most of the damage, but the Elden Beast can perform other moves during this attack, so having a summon in the battle is especially helpful. It can also perform this attack while flying.

Sword Swing-Smash is another simple move to dodge, as the Elden Beast will swing its sword twice before smashing it down. Just roll into both swings and then toward the beast during the smash for a chance to get some hits in. Divebomb is a move where it will fly in the air and then smash into the ground. This is best dodged by jumping just as it hits the ground.

Another magical attack it performs is the Galaxy Cloud, where the Elden Beast shoots out a row of clouds which explode one after another. Just stay away during this attack, and move back toward them once the explosions have stopped.

The rest of the attacks come straight from its sword, so basic dodging will do. Flaming Sword Beams causes it to set its sword on fire before swinging it four times, with the last two having a slight delay. Dodge toward the Elden Beast for the initial blast, and then into each sword swing afterwards. A similar move they will perform is the Flaming Stab, where it will set the sword on fire and stab it into the ground to cause a big explosion. Try to run away when it begins the animation for this attack, and you can avoid all damage.

A simple attack to dodge is called Spin Swing, where it will do just that, and swing its sword in a circle. The last of the fire attacks is the Flaming Sword Combo, where it will alternate between rapid sword swings, before making downward stabs, before a spin swing. You will have to combine all your experience dodging the previous attacks for this one, but the precision is incredibly tight.

Wave of Gold is the last attack, and it has the potential to one hit you. For this attack, the Elden Beast will charge its sword before swinging and creating a cone in front of the player. It deals more damage when you are closer to the tip, so get as far back as you can and dodge the initial swing before escaping from the cone.

There is no easy trick to the Elden Beast and you will have to rely on dodging its attacks to get in some hits, but its size makes it easy to hit them from any direction. With the Black Knife Tiche acting as a distraction that takes very little damage, you can also get in a host of damage during moves where its attention is focused forward. Utilising highly physical weapons and aiming for the spot under its stomach will ensure you're focusing on the Elden Beast weaknesses.

That's our primer on the Elden Ring Elden Beast boss fight, and now you should have an idea about how to defeat both Radagon of the Golden Order and the Elden Beast during the climax of the game.
